Many folks are chomping at the bit for new Light Peak (Thunderbolt) audio interfaces and manufacturers are stepping in with what appears to be exciting new offerings. However, one should read the ad copy carefully: there is a difference between a real Thunderbolt interface and "Thunderbolt connectivity."
Some manufacturers are simply offering consumers a Firewire interface with an internal adapter that allows for the use of a Thunderbolt cable from the breakout box to the computer but delivering Firewire performance.
This problem was worse a couple of years ago but, still, check the 'fine print' and make sure you're getting what you want rather than falling for slick ad copy nonsense.
